My Firefox Crashed and now will do nothing!

topic posted Sat, February 25, 2006 - 9:36 PM by  Tim
Ok So my Firefox 1.5.0.1 decided it wanted to crash on me and no matter what I do I can't get it to start back up... I've uninstalled , reinstalled, rebooted, made sure no other firefox is running in mem... deleted firefox from the registry (What I could find of it anyways) and still nothing...

If I go to reinstall it looks lik it goes through the install clean but when it goes to run the browser I get nothing.. No Errors no nothing.. just doesn't boot up to it... If I click on the icon I get nothing.... If I CTRL ALT DEL it will say it's in Memory but I'm showing nothing on the screen..
Any Suggestions??? Currently I'm using Mozilla because I won't use IE

This is a longshot, but try re-downloading it and then reinstalling.

Sorry, but I have no idea what could be causing your problem. Are you familiar with Mozillazine? You could try posting there and see if somebody could help. There's a bunch of very knowledgeable folks there who have helped me out a few times.

            • Hey Tim,

I just posted some information that you might be interested in. I've gone through what you had described several times. I also had a couple of times when I had to completely reload Firefox and all my extensions. I'll paste my post below... I've got several extensions to add but this is a great list of stuff to get you going.

              Sincerely,
Ethan/MightyJoe (my middle name is Ethan...)

              Hi Firefox Tribe!
I've been an active member of this tribe for a while. In my spare time I've been working on a BLOG to reflect my Firefox extension configuration. The reason I did this is because I had trouble with conflicts, and finding which extensions were best for a given task, I've also run into extensions that are terrible resource hogs, and extensions that are not updated along with FireFox... I was concerned that, because of these problems, a lot of users wouldn't be able to really get the great value I am out of Firefox. So I am consistently updating my configuration and the BLOG so you can install extensions quickly, know what they do, and be confident that they will work and that they are the best extension for the job at hand! So please check out my BLOG!

I've done the same thing with Freeware and I am excited to announce my new Google BLOG as well! Please let me know what you think... There is no advertising or banners or spam or anything like that. Just good accurate information that I hope will be of use to you!

              Sincerely,
              Mighty Joe!
